Voting in the South African General Elections 30 April 2014

Today, almost 10,000 South Africans in the UK voted at the South African Embassy in Trafalgar Square in London.

Voting began at 7am and there were long queues throughout the day.

We decided to go at 16:15, the queue started at the centre of the National Gallery. Luckily for the entertainers in Trafalgar Square as well as Nandos who were handing out free chicken wings!

Queues were divided into A-L, M to V and U to Z.

Inside the embassy, they checked if we registered and verified our passport and ID, then we were given the long list of parties. We were told to make our mark, then put the form into envelope A then to put it into envelope B.

After standing in the queue for 2.5 hours, we finally got to make our mark!
