Panic suddenly strikes, 3 weeks to go... yikes! slowly ticking things off the list but still lots to do. We still don't have a tenant for our house, have 4 agents on it, there's been some interest but no offers yet. We still haven't heard back from Chestnut Hill realty regarding our apartment application.
Time is ticking....
Next Sunday we will be going down to Cape Town, Athol needs to go down for work so we thought that we could go say good-bye to his family.
I have 4 days of work left :) my last day of work is 31 May 2012. Hectic to think that I will not be working for 13 months!
Went to go buy a laptop for my family today so that they can skype us while we are in boston - technology is awesome
This blog is to capture our wonderful memories of our travels abroad - Boston (19 June 2012 - 15 June 2013), London (29 September 2013 - 5 July 2014) and Oxford (1 October 2015 - Current). A tale of two South Africans living abroad... a poet/husband/advisor/eternal optimist studying political Theory at Oxford University, wanting to better the world, and me, a third generation Chinese South African who is the Executive Director of READ to RISE and children's book illustrator.

The start to a wonderful adventure
Athol and I leave for the US in 4 weeks, we are extremely excited for the year ahead!
This mid career public policy course at the Harvard Kennedy School has always been a dream for Athol, so we are very fortunate to be able to live out this dream. I have never been to the US before, so am looking forward to experiencing life in Boston with my wonderful husband. I have taken a year sabbatical from work and will be learning Mandarin. I will be using the Rosetta Stone software as well going to classes at the Boston Language Institute.
Flights and visa are sorted, we leave 18 June 2012 - exactly 4 weeks away! Still need to sort out accommodation over there, which is proving to be a bit tricky since we aren't there.
